    Success in designing and manufacturing air springs to cushion the ride of vehicles that support the world’s transportation infrastructure has fueled FSIP’s growth from a single plant in 1936 to becoming the world’s number one air spring manufacturer.  With employees throughout the world, the Company’s U.S. headquarters is located in Nashville, Tennessee.


    In addition to supplying Airide™ air springs to vehicle original equipment manufacturers, FSIP also makes air springs for the industrial market and the heavy duty and light duty aftermarkets.  In the enthusiast aftermarket, FSIP is an industry leader with the Ride-Rite™, Coil-Rite™ and Level-Rite™ brands of air helper springs.


    Position Summary

    This position is to lead the continuous improvement efforts of Firestone Industrial Products, promoting and using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to improve business and manufacturing processes.  The incumbent will lead, develop plans, coordinate and direct activities creating permanent change that insures a culture which embraces continuous improvement in an open and participative environment.


    Continuous Improvement Strategy (45%)

    • Develops and communicates the vision for a continually improving the enterprise.  (Annually)
    • Creates a Mission and Strategic Timetable for Operational, Transactional and Organizational improvement.  (Annually)
    • Establishes and communicates specific improvement goals and objectives for the company.  (Quarterly)
    • Coordinates activity leading to the establishment of supporting goals and objectives in company headquarters, sales offices and facilities.  (Monthly)
    • Facilitate Kaizen activities at corporate office.  (Weekly)
    • Assists with Kaizen event planning and resource allocation at the Divisional office and the facilities.  (Daily)
    • Monitors activity, reports on results and assists with corrective action support measures.  (Daily)
    • Creates and provides training on use of Lean and Six Sigma concepts and tools. (Daily)
    • Institutes a cultural transformation though lean enterprise business model. (Daily)

    Planning and Directing (35%)

    • Identifies opportunities for improvement in the business, development and manufacturing processes.  (Daily)
    • Maintains list of potential projects and prioritizes action.  (Daily)
    • Develops metrics and costs to set base line and monitor real improvement.  (Weekly)
    • Reviews itemized implementation plans and provides insight and support.  (Quarterly)
    • Creates controls to sustain gains as they are achieved.  (Weekly)
    • Creates budget requirements for resources needs. (Semi-Annually)
    • Directs resources to achieve optimum results and achieve the Mission. (Daily)
    • Drive end to end continuous improvement activities to establish a program with high tempo of activity.

    Corporate BSAM Support and Alignment (10%)

    • Ensure divisional strategy supports and aligns with corporate initiatives.  (Annually)
    • Supports other divisions to achieve their Continuous Improvement Strategy.  (Annually)
    • Actively participates in corporate strategic creation and direction.  (Annually)


     Internal Customer Interaction (5%)

    • Interact with internal customers to keep them informed of continuous improvement activities.
    • Coordinates company activities specifically directed toward meeting customer requirements for achieving continuous improvement targets.

    Miscellaneous (5%)

    Other project as assigned by management.


    • Bachelor's degree in Engineer, Manufactruing, or Business Related Field
    • 10 + years in manufacturing.
    • Proven Project Management skills
    • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (50%).
    • Proficient Knowledge of Lean & Six Sigma Methodology (Six Sigma, Lean, 5S, FTA, Kaizen and SDP)


    • Black Belt Certification
    • PMP Certification
