    Position Summary

    The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is a vital role on Firestone Industrial Products’ (FSIP) Product Realization Team (Project Team) to successfully select, qualify and approve components for use in automotive air spring assemblies.  The SQE provides a quality and technical resource to assess supplier capability to meet Firestone Industrial Products (FSIP) Requirements and FSIP Customer Requirements.  The SQE is a critical component of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) team and the overall product realization process to assure acceptable and consistency. 

    Responsibilities

    • Audit suppliers for conformity to established standards for initial qualification and conducts audits at planned intervals thereafter to assure continued adherence to the FSIP Supplier Quality Manual.
    • Monitor supplier performance on a monthly basis and take action when needed to correct poor performance.​
    • Coordinate APQP and PPAP processes to validate and verify components meet customer specifications and requirements.
    • Monitor Rejected Material Notifications (RMN's) to determine actions needed for containment and corrective actions.
    • Evaluate changes to supplier processes for impact to form, fit and function.
    • Support the FSIP QMS to assure compliance with ISO9001/IATF 16949 Standards.
    • Promote Continual Improvement
    • Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification
    • Assess processes, take measurements, interpret data, and suggest improvements
    • Investigate and troubleshoot any problems that arise with processes, procedures, and operations
    • Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
    • Assist teams in carrying out implementation of the procedures you design
    • Manage cost and time constraints
    • Perform risk assessments and process capability studies
    • Follow-up on customer complaints and quality issues and develop effective corrective actions utilizing tools such as Fault Tree Analysis and 8D
    • Clearly communicate ideas and findings to management and colleagues

    Qualifications

     Qualifications Required:

    • Bachelor's degree required – preferred in Engineering or Advanced Mathematics
    • At least 3 years of Engineering experience, preferred Automotive experience
    • Excellent technical skills and eye for detail
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work well independently and with a team
    • Proficiency with computer and information technology
    • ISO9001 experience
    • Proven history in improving process efficiency
    • Must be comfortable with integrating new technology into an existing business environment
    • Thorough understanding of scientific and mathematical principles

    Qualifications Preferred:

    • IATF16949 experience preferred
    • Six Sigma Certification
    • Must be comfortable with integrating new technology into an existing business environment
