    Position Summary

    The Manager of Cost Estimation is the subject matter expert on product composition and cost.  The position helps Firestone Industrial Products protect company profit margins, and drives profitable growth – setting the bar for Purchasing with ‘should-cost’ modelling, and defending our pricing positions with customers using fact-based analysis.


    •  ​Prioritize and create should-cost models for key products and benchmark against competitive offerings. Hold Purchasing and Manufacturing teams accountable for continuous cost improvement on key products.
    • Negotiate with OE customers to establish and defend pricing, including the basis of future price adjustments.
    • Actively engage in RFQ process to win new business at or above profitability benchmarks to drive breakthrough growth.
    • Help drive RFQ process to make sure the company maximizes it pricing/margin while generating breakthrough growth.
    • Driving goals and objectives with a sense of urgency; prioritizing and communicating goals and objectives to align with company objectives.
    • Communication and leading change through influence with international teams, spanning different geographies, and cultures.
    • Analyzing and communicating cost and profitability performance for new and existing programs to a broad range of teammates through all levels of the organization.
    • Internal Interaction with all functional areas.
    • Direct presentation and communication to President of FSIP.
    • External Interactions with Customers and Consultants.


     Qualifications Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in numerical / analytical discipline
    • 7+ years in cost estimation, strategic pricing, or cost accounting.
    • 3+ years Automotive Components Cost Estimation
    • Strong understanding of how Cost and Pricing impacts the broader organization.
    • Strong and confident communicator.
    • Quick thinking with ability to be assertive.
    • Strong grasp of product value propositions to customers, as well as fundamentals of cost.
    • Highly self-motivated and driven to succeed.

    Qualifications Preferred:

    • MBA
    • 3+ years of operating through influence in matrix environment.
    • Experience operating within a plant and or Procurement environment. Familiarity and experience using lean tools, and operating within a continuous improvement culture.
